Huda Beauty’s recently released the Resting Boss Face Setting Spray, which was inspired by the Drag Queens who would use hairspray to set their makeup with a long lasting hold.
This setting spray is supposed to provide the same effects as hairspray without all of the harmful effects on the skin. The setting spray is waterproof and is said to have an ultra matte finish. The bottle is 3.38 fl oz and retails for $32.00 at Sephora.com
So, I decided to test out Resting Boss Face for myself and here are my thoughts:
To apply the product, I took a tip from Huda’s website and sprayed it onto a beauty sponge and tapped it all over my skin. This is supposed to provide a longer hold. However, in addition to that I sprayed my entire face with the setting spray.
The first thing I noticed about the product is that it has a very strong perfume like smell. This smell lasted for quite some time, so if you are sensitive to strong smelling products this may not be right for you.
After applying, I went approximately 5 1/2 hours before I really felt like I needed to touch up my makeup. Take into consideration I had been running around in 90 degree heat.
I have really oily skin so 5 1/2 hours is a really long time for me to go without touching up even with setting spray. I believe it would have lasted longer had I not been in and out of the heat.
So in my opinion the setting spray definitely does what it says. With that, it wouldn’t be something that I would use everyday but rather save for times and special occasions when I truly need an extended hold.
I say this because the product does contain alcohol which is known not to be great for skin.
So my conclusion is that the Huda Resting Boss Face Setting Spray definitely works and will provide even oily skin with a long lasting hold.
